Last High School Football Game

To begin my sports blogging career I would like to start off with the biggest memory of my life that will stick with me forever. On October 29, at Farmington Hills Harrison High School, Brother Rice (My old high school) versed Harrison in the first round of the playoffs. This was my senior year and meant so much to me and my classmates. We entered the field with much heart as we did all season especially after starting the season off with a 1 and 2 record. We started the game by alternating score for score with Harrison and I was at wide receiver throughout the whole game. My team was up by 5 points with nearly 2:02 left in the game and the ball was ours after an interception by our linebacker. On 2nd and 8, Rice quarterback gained five yards on a QB keeper, but he fumbled on the play.  The ball bounced into the arms of the defender, who had clear sailing–60 yards for the touchdown.  The two point conversion was good and Harrison had a three point lead with 1:48 left. I was on the opposite side of the field nearly 30 yards away and did not have enough time to make the tackle from the opposite side of the field. At this point I thought I was in some type of dream and did not know what to think because we had just lost our "forsure" win and gave the win to them. Our coaches knew that our players knee was down on this play and they seemed to be very confident about this. Although the referees called the fumble on the play and the game was over, my coaches still reviewed this play after watching many different angles on film. They found one beautiful, clear angle that showed our quarterback's knee clearly down, but too bad we could not do anything about it. Harrison knocks off Brother Rice! The worst part of it all is that Harrison went on to win the State Championship. Knowing that we should have beat them really sucks because in other terms, that state championship ring could have greatly been ours.
