Detroit Lions Preview: Week 2

Matthew Stafford

The Kansas City Chiefs will go on the road to take on a much-improved Detroit Lions team in Week 2 of the NFL regular season this weekend. Are the lions potential playoff contenders? Seems quite weird to say that because I cannot remember a time that we ever made the playoffs. Kansas City is coming off one of their worst losses in franchise history, as they were defeated 41-7 by the Buffalo Bills last weekend.

The Lions managed to pull out an exciting 27-20 win against the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers and are looking to start the season 2-0 against an injury-fulled Chiefs team.
The Chiefs passing offense, led by quarterback Matt Cassel, will need to have a much better game this Sunday than they had against the Bills.

The Detroit Lions still have room for improvement because we made some careless mistakes in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Detroit will be counting on third-year QB Matthew Stafford to build on his 300-plus-yard passing performance that he performed a week ago.

With Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry now out for the season, it will be that much harder to cover Lions receivers Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson. Although Nate Burleson is getting old, he still has got the talent to consider him being one of the top receivers in the league.

In order for the Detroit Lions to achieve the success they are searching for, they are going to have to pull together as a team. They have to take it one step at a time in order to find that missing piece that we have missed in our last few years together, which have all been unsuccessful.

My prediction is a 24-10 win for the Detroit Lions.
